Word has been received that Big Jim passed away today, Sunday, June thirteenth, 2010.

This post will be updated when more information is available. This is a sad day for us all, but please think about Jim's family. He was a great human being and will be missed by many people here, and at his home.

Rest in Peace Jim Hendon, gone but never forgotten.

Heres a poem I wrote a few years back, but I dedicate this to Jim

Still Here

If I should I close my eyes tomorrow, for the last time
Or if I should succomb, with aged wrinkle lines
I want you to know that your place in my heart
Will never falter, from this world should I depart
Even though I may be gone, memories remain
Think of times of happiness to ease you through the pain
Times when laughter was abundant and joyous feelings all around
And should a tear fall upon your face, know I am safe and sound
Don't mourn for me, for I am doing fine
I know that I'll see you again, but all in due time
Even though I may not be around for you to see or hear
Take comfort in knowing that I am very near
If at any time you need me when you feel you're falling apart
Just close your eyes and think of me, for I am always in your heart.

i dont know what to say, thank you isent enough. and would kind of feel like an insult, so ill just say what i feel. this place and all of you were like home to my father. my father was a great man and i strive every day to be half the man he was. my whole life i just knew he was the strongest man alive. and well not many could dispute that. but in the last few years the weaker his body got the more i realized "why" he was so strong. no one knows the struggles my father went through like me and most would never know he struggled at all. but here on this site he was a "whole man" and equal. in the last year he went through i think 6 computers "he had really bad luck with computers lol"  but he allways made sure he had a way to be online.

the last few days have tested me more than i have ever been tested. and when i was defeated i looked to you all, becaus you were my fathers friends and if you were his friends then he believed in you all. i know its not enough but i am a humbled and broken man, and you all all of you gave me strength, thank you, thank you all from me and my father. thank you for being his friend and for helping me.

my deepest gratitude

Matt,

It is us that must thank you. Not just for your words now, but for being the kind of man I know your dad would be proud of. He was just full of pride in his kids and his Anja.

You are correct, he was more of a man than any of us. I doubt anyone here could have dealt with the setbacks Big Jim had and keep the utterly positive attitude and demeanor that Jim always had.

I never knew it was possible through the internet, but I could just feel the joy Jim had at his life. His life meaning his family and friends. It humbled me and it humbles me still.

It will take time to heal from this, for many of us, but especially for you that were his biggest joys in life, but you will heal. Please be sure that you aren't alone in the grief of Jim's passing. He will be missed sorely by us all, forever.

Hug Jim's perfect little angel for him and all of us, and know we all keep you in our prayers.

-Mike

i hadn't known jim for long but he no matter what was going had a kind word or good joke and was willing to help anyone he could. he made it fun to come in here and see what he had posted or chat about whatever. even though it wasn't long he will stay with me forever and hope you know how much we appreciated him and will miss having him here as will you.

You are going to have good and bad days but remember he is watching over you now and will still be there to help you when needed just by having been part of your life

i will keep you all in my prayers and will miss him horribly.

omg what a shock I am truly sadend. I did not know.. My deepest gratitude goes out. Jim was a huge inspiration to me, and still is. I would have never know of his disability's if he had not told me. He was truly one of the strongest people Ive ever met, Internet or not. Big Jim you will be missed greatly. You were a huge source of information and a great friend.  I hope you and your family find peace of mind through out this horrible time..

R.I.P. Jim

Matt,

There is no need to thank us.  We were your dads friends and we enjoyed his company immensely.  He will definitely be missed here and there will be a void left for us all, but he lives on in our lives.  He taught all of us about guns, reloading, and just life in general.  I feel blessed that I was able to come into your fathers life and become his friend.  I knew him for a year and a half, and It felt like I had known him my whole life.  I looked up to him, and he believed in me.  I wish you and your family the best and  I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. Don't be a stranger and visit when you can.  God bless!

I feel so bad for having been in the middle of moving and not being here for this. Jim was a great guy, more so than any of us can type in words. More than just a source of information, or a helping hand, Jim was a genuinely good person, one of not many. Jim you will be sorely missed by me and many.
