My old wood on my Mossy was kind of beat up and fishguy1313 over at HPFF graciously sent me his old furniture so, I figured I might as well do a little wood work. It was a little rough so, I decided to re-finish it. I basically just took some sandpaper to it and removed the old finish. I decided I wanted to go a little lighter than original so I used some Minwax golden oak stain and went to town. I finished it off with about 6 or so coats of poly.

I did the stock first. I then realized that the forends were a bit different. The older models (my gun) tend to have a longer forend on 'em so, I was forced to re-finish my old forend. I refinished it the same way as the stock. It's interesting to note that the wood on my 17 year-old forend was quite a bit darker (as in different species of wood) compared to the newer stock. They both turned out satisfactorily - to me anyway. Now, without further ado:

Here is the re-finished stock being compared to its forend. This shows you what the original dark finish looked like on the stock.

The forend and stock aren't really that far apart in color in real life.

Thanks, Sam! It's actually a "Crown Grade" model so, it has the scrollwork on the receiver and the gold trigger.

Yes, I made that gun rack about 3 years ago.
